Research indicates that healthy eating can be beneficial for people living with cancer. Studies show that benefits may include a reduction in symptoms and treatment side effects, and improved quality of life.
Healthy eating can also help prevent other conditions that cancer survivors may be prone to such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease and osteoporosis. Another important benefit is enhanced pyschological and emotional wellbeing. This can be due to the person with cancer having an increased sense of control over the recovery process which, in turn, can lead to a reduction in stress.
Penny Brohn Cancer Care http://www.pennybrohncancercare.org has produced a booklet, “The Bristol Approach to Healthy Eating” which is a guide to maintaining a healthy balanced diet whilst living with cancer, and can be downloaded free from their website: Click Here

The Rarer Cancers Foundation is grateful to Cancerbackup and Macmillan Cancer Support for their contributions to this DVD, which was funded by donations from RCF members and by educational grants from Nutricia and Pfizer.
The DVD is free for paid-up RCF members and £5.00 inc p&p for non-members. Membership of the RCF costs only £5.00 a year – by joining you can receive the DVD for free, and also enjoy other benefits of membership.
For Health Professionals
The Rarer Cancers Foundation has also developed a DVD for health professionals which, it is hoped, will increase the level of knowledge about nutrition and cancer amongst those who often feel that this subject is not their business. In the DVD, “Nutrition and Cancer: Everybody’s Business” the importance of good nutrition is stressed for surviving the cancer journey and in regaining health after treatment. This DVD includes a Top Tips recipe booklet.
The Rarer Cancers Foundation is grateful to Cancerbackup and Macmillan Cancer Support for their contributions. This DVD was funded by an educational grant from Abbott Nutrition and by members of RCF. You can obtain a free copy of the DVD from your local Abbott Nutrition representative, or via the Abbott Nutrition website
